i watched a movie called bollywood hollywood..cute movie with a very cute lead dude who looks like nicholas cage.. ^_^ buuut...it was kind of a cliche if u ask me...pretty woman-ish...at least d movie introduced me to a well-known poet, Pablo Neruda. if i had kept to a "dasar tutup mata dan minda" [closed mind n eyes], i'd prolly woudnt know by now tht Neruda is a nobel prize winning poet in literature..n tht his poems r uber intresting~ take diz for example:
The Me Bird by Pablo Neruda
I am the Pablo Bird,
bird of a single feather,
a flier in the clear shadowand obscure clarity,
my wings are unseen,
my ears resound
when I walk among the trees
or beneath the tombstones
like an unlucky umbrella
or a naked sword,
stretched like a bow
or round like a grape,
I fly on and on not knowing,
wounded in the dark night,
who is waiting for me,
who does not want my song,
who desires my death,
who will not know I'm arriving
and will not come to subdue me,
to bleed me, to twist me,
or to kiss my clothes,
torn by the shrieking wind.
That's why I come and go,
fly and don't fly but sing:
I am the furious bird
of the calm storm.
What makes d movie even more intresting is the fact tht d indian family tries their best to practise their culture n customs in a foreign country. which much reminds me of d gud ol dayz in england. where most of my frenz either bengalli, punjabi, indian or arabic. all of them who still recognise their origins and culture. somehow, i was kinda influenced by them too...like the fact tht i enjoy banghra music, i looove indian food and learning how everyone in my school is somehow related to everyone else was pretty amusing...they hav a big biiig family ~
plus;we malaysians there still keep to our customs too..there was never any harm in wearing a baju kurung for raya, and having weekly gatherings among d malaysians. sharing our special dishes with the locals...and celebrating eid mubarak with everyone. i remember winning an eid mubarak card designing contest back in limehurst. and special food were served for lunch at eid. sigh~ what does it take to experience all that again? only time will tell...
